The Dylan Thomas Collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, notebooks, drawings, financial records, photographs, proofs, and broadcast scripts. The Works series contains handwritten manuscripts and typescripts for some of Dylan Thomas's best known poetry, fiction, criticism, broadcast scripts, and film scripts. Of particular interest are drafts and workings for the radio play Under Milk Wood, the poem "Lament," and "Elegy," the unfinished poem Thomas was drafting at the time of his death. Also present are juvenilia, a selection of Thomas's work for radio and film, and materials resulting from his collaboration with his close Swansea friend Daniel Jones. The Career-Related Materials and Personal Papers series deals primarily with Thomas's private life and the details of his tours and public appearances. Present are lists of words used when composing poetry, drawings and self-portraits, fair copies of others' poetry prepared for public readings, and documents concerning Thomas's death. The Correspondence series consists mainly of outgoing correspondence, most notably more than 120 letters written by Thomas to his literary agents David Higham Associates. Other recipients include Caitlin Thomas, Daniel Jones, and T.S. Eliot. Included among the small selection of incoming correspondence are several letters from Igor Stravinsky. The Third-Party Works and Correspondence series is the largest series in the collection and consists primarily of works, correspondence, and research materials concerning Dylan Thomas. Of particular interest are the materials of Bill and Helen McAlpine, close friends of the Thomases, which include photographs and letters written by Caitlin Thomas to Helen McAlpine. Also present are typescripts for two of Caitlin Thomas's memoirs, manuscripts of Thomas's mother Florence, and the research materials of two of the Thomas's earliest biographers, Constantine FitzGibbon and Bill Read.
